The admission process for MBBS and BDS courses is undergoing a change with the issue of notification on 11.09.2012 by CBSE for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2013. The Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India has entrusted CBSE with the task of conducting a national level test for admission in the MBBS course offered by the medical colleges / institutions approved by MCI and BDS course offered by colleges / institutions approved by Dental Council of India. The admission in the undergraduate courses - MBBS & BDS of these colleges/ institutions for the session 2013-14 will be given based on the merit / rank /score of the candidates in NEET (UG) 2013. NEET 2013 is a national level entrance test which shall replace the erstwhile AIPMT also.The NEET UG 2013 will be conducted by CBSE on 05.05.2013 at the examination centres across the country. National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (Under-Graduate), 2013 or NEET 2013 syllabus has already been published by MCI and the same is available on MCI official website at www.mciindia.org and the candidates may download the NEET UG 2013 syllabus there from. The list of colleges/ institutions covered under NEET 2013 is also available on MCI website.
The pattern of NEET UG 2013 exam will be similar to that of erstwhile AIPMT. CBSE has presently issued a brief notification and further information and details about NEET 2013 are likely to be published on CBSE website in due course of time. NEET 2013 Online Application Forms are also likely to be hosted on CBSE website (www.cbse.nic.in) in due course of time. NEET is a welcome step in the interest of the aspiring medical students as it will do away with the multiple entrance tests for different institutions. The students will now be saved from grueling and tiring process of multiple entrance tests for different medical colleges and the consolidated single entrance test will save time, efforts and money of the medical profession aspirants. NEET 2013 result is likely to be declared by mid June 2013 and the first round of counselling / admission through NEET 2013 is likely to be completed by last week of July 2013.
